The introduction of new exhaust emission standards has caused major changes in the engine range of all car manufacturers.

Some gasoline and diesel engineers have simply gone down in history, including 1.2 TCe. It fitted into almost all Reno and Dacia models, and now comes a brand new 1332 cubic centimeter model.

It was developed in collaboration with Mercedes, so it takes its place in the "A class", "Megane" and "daughter's daster".

It is produced in multiple power levels; the weakest version in the "Megan" has around 100 "horses", while the strongest has 163 horsepower.

The first Renault to get a new engine is the Scenic. So far, three variants, with 115, 140 and 160 "horses," are installed. We have tested the strongest version with the richest Initiale Paris suite of equipment.

We admit we were eager to try the new engine. Power promises, as does the joint work of engineers of two major brands. We sit behind the wheel as if we were getting into an SUV.

The driver position is high and transparency is among the best on the market in general. How could it not be, when "Senik" has a huge windshield with additional side windows.

The legs were flexed as expected, and in order to retrieve the foot controls, we even had to pull the steering wheel a little.

The fantastic design and tonality of leather seats and special headrests with the Initiale Paris logo imprinted on the most prestigious "hood" variant.

The standard "20s" combined with the two-tone bodywork only confirms the affiliation with high fashion, so Scenic deserves a "fashion" epithet.

From the direction of the hood comes a new and interesting gasoline sound. Already the first meters reveal that it is extremely elastic and easy to spin at low rpm.

A stronger squeeze of the accelerator pedal results in instantaneous engine response. The response is strong, even surprisingly good for almost a ton and a half of a heavy car.
Since the "hay" is equipped with a "multisens" choice of driving mode, we choose "sport" mode. Two clicks and the car changes character drastically. The family MPV literally turns into a sports car.

Even at low throttle, it pulls extremely hard so that it is restrained by shifting gears to a higher degree.

We notice that other drivers are surprised by the performance of the haymaker, which reveals to us that the figures on paper can be quite misleading.

In particular, the factory declared an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h of a solid ten seconds; however, the subjective impression is incomparably different, so it seems that the car is much faster than the manufacturer says.

Of course, this is not a race car. Depending on the weight of the vehicle, 195mm wide tires have a slightly lower slip limit.

No matter what, for the average driver, the slip limit across the nose is set very high. Overtaking is a real pleasure, not only on the highway but also on the highway.

For example, if you want to accelerate abruptly at 130 km / h, you do not have to whip speeds or two at all. The engine also shows great resilience here, although at that speed it "spins" at a relatively low 2700 rpm.

It then consumes about eight liters, primarily because of the large front surface, which also results in higher airflow noise than the sedans.

The highway spending figure should not discourage you from spending the same amount around the city.

Renault declared 7.6 l / 100 km around the city by new WLTP standards, and we recorded an average of 7.7 liters. Generally, you should count on what a decimal more.

Scenic is otherwise very convenient for family needs because of its convenience. Admittedly, there is less room in the rear seats than in the previous generation.

Tall people will be knap, but those of average height will sit comfortably. On the other hand, the seats in the front seat backrests can only be used by children because adults will not be able to open them because they hit their knees.

All three seats in the back are independent. Moving lengthwise is possible so that the boot volume from the standard 506 liters can be increased to 572 liters.

Reno managed to place a spare wheel and subwoofer under the trunk floor, which is part of the Bose sound system. The premium name in the audio engineering world provides high-quality sound, but only if you have good sample music.
