The secret to weight loss is in soups - you are not hungry and you are losing extra pounds

Soup can be a healthy and tasty way to create balance after a period of heavy metals. This gives your digestive system a chance to restart and get rid of bloating, says Robin Foroutan, a registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Also, eating soup regularly can help you lose extra pounds. Several studies have shown that soup before the main meal contributes to lower calorie intake because people usually eat less of what follows after an appetizer.

In one study, people who ate soup instead of chips and other snacks for a snack lost 50 percent more weight than those who ate snacks rather than soup, even though the number of calories eaten was the same in both.

- Coupling water with food slows gastric emptying, keeping it fuller for longer periods of time. Water in the soup gives weight and volume to the meal, so you can get a satisfying amount without too many calories - said Barbara Rolls, professor of nutritional science at Pennsylvania State University.

Unlike making juices where the fiber is removed from the fruit, soups still contain fiber intact but are easier to digest because they are cooked - added Robin Foroutan and advised everyone to occasionally afford days where they will eat only healthy soups because that way cleanses the body of toxins and lose a few extra pounds.

It is crucial that such soups have lots of vegetables and herbs and protein, such as lentils, beans or tofu for vegetarians, and chicken, fish or bone for people who eat everything - she advised.

Robin Foroutan says it is good to take occasional occasions and eat only soup or take a week off and eat soup every day for regular meals, CNN reports.
