Scania is completing its range of 13-liter engines with a new 540-hp version. The DC13 engine is primarily intended for users who need a lot of power but limit the load on the front axle since the 520-hp V8 engine is slightly heavier.
Scania now offers five different power levels, its most common engine: 370, 410, 450, 500 and 540 hp.
The new 540hp version shares several technical solutions, as well as the 500hp version, which includes a fixed geometry turbocharger with ball bearings.
"The 540hp engine is mainly intended for customers and markets where the legal aspects of front axle loading prevent the V8 from being selected. Paired with an adequate gearbox and gear ratio, this engine will perform equally well in both carcass transport and flower delivery, especially when high average speeds and low fuel consumption are required, ”explains Alexander Vlaskamp, senior vice president of Scania Trucks.
