How does tea affect the brain?

A study by Singapore and UK scientists suggests that drinking tea has a positive effect on brain structure and reduces the chances of cognitive decline in older life. For the purpose of the study, 36 subjects with good health status were monitored from 45 to 60 years of age.

Using magnetic resonance imaging and neuropsychological tests, the researchers monitored the cognitive function and changes in the brain structure of the study participants during the observation period.

According to the journal Aging, the best results were obtained by the respondents who drank tea at least 4 times a week for several years. For those most likely to consume tea, the risk of cognitive decline was about 50 percent lower than for those who did not drink tea at all.
