The new model has a new look, a new interior, and significantly improved aerodynamics, which, with other improvements, allows a total consumption reduction of 7.5%.
Volvo is continuing to renew its offerings in America, so the VNR model for regional transport was also introduced to the VNL. This model was first introduced in 1996 when it set standards in its class, and Volvo also claims the new model.
The new model shares a lot of components with models from Europe, and the Volvo expects the most wanted will be the VNL 760 with a 70-inch sleeping cabin. For the first time in America, Globetrotter equipment is being introduced to offer on the 760 and 860 models.
A 13-liter Volvo DC13 engine is offered for the drive, while in the day cab models a smaller DC11 engine is also available. Customers will also be able to order a 15-liter Cummins X15 engine. All models come standard with an automated Volvo I-Shift transmission.
The DC13 engine is also offered with a TC (Turbo Compound version) that has a mechanical exhaust heat recovery system. The result is an extra 50hp on the crankshaft and a reduction of up to 6.5%.
In keeping with its reputation, Volvo has installed a lot of safety equipment, that is, systems that help or alert the driver, or automatically respond when needed. New LED lights were also installed, and the cab was rollover-tested, with an additional seat cushion in addition to the side airbag (which is unique in the market) to protect the driver.
